Today I’m joining Cindy, Mary Ann, and a few friends to share mother/daughter fashion. Madeline came home from the city last weekend and we actually went to the new Nordstrom. We have not been to a mall since last February! It felt almost normal. We were surprised to find out that we could in fact use the dressing rooms. The store associates were taking several steps to make everyone feel safe. Right away we found a few things from the Topshop section and then stopped into Zara as well.
Top Shop Skirt and Blazer
Madeline is an editor at Travel & Leisure. We have always loved traveling, sightseeing, drinking coffee in cute little shops all over the world, and basically just hanging out together. We love a good road trip and cannot wait to plan our next adventure. She just moved to Brooklyn from Manhattan and with the pandemic, is more than happy to come out to visit us on the weekends for a little respite from the city. She made doing this fashion post a lot of fun!
We saw two skirts that we liked from Top Shop for Nordstrom. We almost bought this one but felt it wasn’t as versatile as the tiered midi skirt. Madeline is wearing it with sandals from Madewell but said she would wear it with sneakers in the city with a denim shirt or jacket.
I’m wearing my favorite Cheeky Straight jeans in washed black Everlane, a sleeveless tank from James Perse that I wear year-round as a layering piece. The jacket was too good to pass up. I’ve wanted a white blazer ever since I saw stylist Allison Bornstein show all the possibilities of how to wear it. I found out about Allison from Mary Ann by way of her daughter Alexandra.
Top Shop & Aday
Why not wear my almost white Topshop blazer with white jeans, a white t-shirt, and flat square toe Mary Jane flats from Zara? The jeans are old…I never liked the boot cut, but then took a pair of scissors and did a step-hem and they are fraying beautifully. Madeline is wearing a wrap crop top from Aday with Gap boyfriend jeans.
Dress or Tunic?
I talked about this dress that Madeline and I both love from Target. We found it while doing a little shopping for Madeline’s new apartment in Brooklyn! We didn’t try it on…I knew I would most likely wear it as a tunic over jeans or maybe as a swimsuit cover-up. Madeline wears hers as it’s intended, like a summer dress. It runs slightly large, so I suggest buying one size down. We both love it and you cannot beat the price!
